Angus Comyns Art

Residing in Canberra, Angus was born in Sydney and raised on a property near Wagga Wagga, NSW. Angus is an emerging artist with his own vibrant and unique style using a range of modern techniques.
Angus' contemporary urban style is a fusion of colour, photographic imagery and text. He creates organised and sometimes chaotic collages on canvas, board and wall using a variety of mediums and techniques (predominantly screen-print with acrylics, freehand painting with acrylics, spray paint - stencil and freehand). Each piece is individually customised. He borrows inspiration from original comics and cartoons as well as street, pop, graffiti and tattoo art. Often hidden in the layers are favourite quotes, numerology and symbology that allow the viewer to continue to find new themes and directions the longer they look at the piece.
Angus is also developing a more simplistic urban style with his portraits. Examples of his portrait work has been shown in the Stencil Art Prize exhibitions with a number of his portraits being selected as finalist pieces.
In 2013 Angus was selected as a finalist in the "Australian Stencil Art Prize" with his piece titled "Cat Allergy".
Finalist in the "2014 Stencil Art Prize" with his piece "Be Free".
Finalist in the "2015 Stencil Art Prize" with his piece "Portrait of an Unimpressed Man" - which is a self portrait (Angus' wife Kirsty really didn't like that one)..
Finalist in the "2016 Stencil Art Prize" with his piece "Wow".
Finalist "2017 Stencil Art Prize" - "Live and own your life" and "Be Power Full".
Recently announced Finalist "2019 Stencil Art Prize" - Girl with Marker.
